Mabul has not only become famous for its proximity to Sipadan, but also has a reputation as one of the best “muck” diving sites there isMabul is definitely an island from the south-eastern coast of Sabah in Malaysia. It first grew to become popular because of its closeness to Sipadan island. Mabul is perhaps among the wealthiest single locations for exotic small marine existence all over the world. Flamboyant cuttlefish, blue-ringed octopus, mimic octopus and bobtail squids are only a couple of of many kinds of cephalopods found on Mabul’s reef.

The reef is on the edge of the continental shelf and the seabed surrounding the reef slopes out to 25 to 30 m deep. There are several dive resorts operating on Mabul island, such as Mabul Water Bungalows and Borneo Divers Mabul Resort.
