The history of the Canaries
The Canary Islands are a volcanic archipelago situated just northwest of the coast of Africa near the border between Morocco and Western Sahara. The islands are part of the country of Spain, and they include Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro and the smaller islands of La Graciosa, Alegranza, Montaa Clara, Roque del Este, Roque del Oeste and Isla de Lobos.
